The 2024 Los Angeles Hungry Ghost festival is a new initiative designed to empower the vibrant community of LA Chinatown through a series of events that center and celebrate the culture of the Chinese Diaspora. It is a collaboration between East Wind Foundation leaders Wayland Tam (President) and Pauletta Pierce (Director of Creative Development), and Performance artist Micah Huang (Harvard University).
The initiative includes a series of community events including open mic nights, educational workshops, and live performances which will take place in Chinatown throughout spring and summer 2024. These activities will culminate with the full-day Hungry Ghost Festival on Saturday August 24th 2024 at Alpine Park in Chinatown.
